System requirements
One computer in your brewery runs BrauMo and serves everyone else. This is what that computer needs, and what the phones and tablets need.
Mac
Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) with macOS 11 or later. Signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a double-click and there is nothing else to install. About 200 MB of disk, plus room for your records and backups.
Windows
64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Nothing else to install. About 100 MB of disk, plus room for your records and backups. The app is not code-signed yet, so on the first start Windows SmartScreen shows a warning: click More info, then Run anyway.
Either machine
4 GB of memory is enough, and a normal WiFi or cable connection to your brewery network. Set the machine not to sleep: while it sleeps, nobody else can reach the app.
Everyone else
Any phone, tablet or laptop on the same network, in any current browser. Nothing to install there. iPhone, iPad and Android also have a free BrauMo app with a barcode scanner.
Internet is needed to buy, activate and update. Day to day BrauMo works offline, and your data stays on your own machine.
A laptop or a Windows tablet can be the machine that runs BrauMo, as long as it stays plugged in and awake. An iPad or an Android tablet cannot: those join as clients, in the app or the browser.
Someone at home or at another site joins through a private-network app such as NetBird or Tailscale, installed on both computers. Do not open a port on your router for it.
On an Intel Mac BrauMo still runs, but the first start builds what it needs, which takes an internet connection and a couple of minutes.
No computer at the brewery yet? A small one is enough, such as a used Mac mini with an M1 chip or a mini PC with Windows 11. It stays plugged in and awake, and everyone else joins from their phones, tablets and laptops.
Installing it
The download appears right after the checkout at Polar, where the trial asks only for your email and the business tick. It arrives by email too.
On a Mac
Unzip the download, drag BrauMo into your Applications folder and open it. The app is signed and notarized, so macOS opens it without a warning.
On Windows
Unzip the download and open BrauMo, nothing to install. If SmartScreen shows a notice on the first start, click More info, then Run anyway; the file's checksum is on the changelog if you want to check it first.
